Welcome to Jeun' Espoir inc.
Benin Project
- History: A branch of the Ottawa-based non profit organization Jeun’Espoir Jamaïque
Inc., the project known as Jeun’Espoir Afrique until the summer of 2007 and now called Jeun' Espoir inc. - Project Canada-Benin has already been on three trips to Benin.
Purpose: To follow up on their similar experience in Jamaica in previous years, we
wanted to continue to enrich the lives of these young Canadians, this time
spending a longer period of time in a different culture. In the wave of Canadian
help to Africa, we wanted to join in and help our contacts, the Prison Fellowship
International: Benin Section, in their humanitarian endeavors.
Results: Three groups comprised of about ten young adults and a few organizers experienced this humanitarian aid project: During the months of August 2004, 2006 and 2008,
they traveled to poor regions and to civil prisons of this West-African
country to lend their assistance in various projects such as construction,
teaching, medical aid, day camp and social work. They devoted their time,
energy, love and vacation to help the most impoverished inhabitants of our
world.
Financing: All participants takes part in various fundraisers to cover their expenses and to
buy the needed materials such as building supplies, computers, school and medical supplies....
